Deconstructing the Big Lie

Humanity has been living a lie. At least, that’s what Ron Garan claims. Garan was an astronaut who spent 178 days in space and covered over 71 million miles in 2,842 Earth orbits.

So, what is the lie this former astronaut is talking about? When Garan went into space, he saw something unbelievable. He saw the incredible thinness of Earth's atmosphere. This paper-thin layer, which is the foundation of all that exists on Earth, keeps every living thing on our planet alive.

But here’s the problem and the myth. Humanity is living under the assumption that everything is subservient to a global economic system. In other words, money and materialism are running the show. As a result, everything humans do starts by prioritizing materialism first, then the broader society is considered, and then humanity starts thinking about the planet.

However, according to Garan, this type of thinking is deceptive. And unless humanity stops living from this deception, it will stop evolving. For our evolution to continue, we must consider the planet first, then society, and then materialism.

When an astronaut goes into space and sees the world from such a distance, they experience a profound personal transformation and change in perspective of reality. It's called the "Overview Effect." The Overview Effect is a powerful reminder that personal transformation is within our reach. It's when a person no longer sees borders that separate nations or localities. The racial, religious, and economic strife disintegrates into the nothingness they are.

Our divisions are manufactured fantasies, and humanity's conflicts appear petty and silly compared to the bigger reality that we are an interconnected living organism. Without this bigger perspective of our interconnectedness, we will not fix the polarization that ails our planet. While we may improve economically in the short term, if we hold onto a limited view of humanity, it will likely prove problematic for the planet in the long term.

When seen up close, the challenges are invisible to the human eye and senses. We do not see the interrelated structure of humankind. And we end up living and buying into a two-dimensional existence of an us vs. them mindset, and the marginalization of the "other."

Both science and spirituality show that people, nature, and even the stars are part of one broad system. Each part of the universe is connected; what affects one part can influence the whole. This interconnectedness is a powerful reminder that we are not alone but part of a vast and beautiful web of life. Understanding this unity could help humanity reconnect with each other and the world, fostering a sense of oneness rather than division.

The solution to this division lies in changing how we view ourselves. When how we view ourselves changes, so do our life experiences. Until we make that change, there are dire consequences to live from the Big Lie. Should we accept it, our mission is to bring the lie into the light. It starts with awareness. Without awareness, there can be no change.

It has taken life on Earth five billion years to evolve to where we are today. We are now at an inflection point where we can continue to progress as a species or stagnate or even devolve. The choice is ours, and it's a choice we must make urgently. If we choose to evolve, we must become aware and confront the myth head-on. When we face it, we erase the lie and open ourselves to the infinite possibilities that Spirit has in store.

Peace and Blessings,

James
